Multilingual
London
We're pleased to announce the launch of our Multilingual
London mini-site which celebrates and
promotes Community Languages - and
includes dedicated areas for our partners, education providers,
language service providers, employers and of course individuals.
London's diversity in language and cultural terms is a real
advantage on the global stage and for the exciting mix of our
capital - but we need to work to harness the skills of
our resident population. Our recent event and
its report, 'Making the most of Community Languages',
point the way forward for our city.
To highlight this very diversity in our business community,
thelondonpaper recently ran bilingual features on entrepreneurs
from a variety of backgrounds – with Hindi, Polish, Russian
and Urdu mother tongue. Read these
articles in the employers area
of our site.

the Multilingual London mini-site now.

Teaching languages
Languages and the new Diplomas

Language study in Higher Education
According to data from the Higher Education Statistics Agency
(HESA), although London still hosts more language students
than any other region, the gap is closing. The latest information
shows a fall in student numbers of 3.5% between 04/05 and
05/06. RLN London is already preparing to tackle this trend
by recruiting Business
Language Champions - ambassadors
for languages who work with schools to ensure students see
the relevance
of these skills for their future. Find
out more about numbers studying languages in London.
