Games Talk

This language planning book by Professor Joseph Lo Bianco, currently working at the University of Melbourne, outlines the preparations, strategies and planning for language provision undertaken by the Language Service Program for the Sydney Olympic and Paralympic Games in the run-up to and during the 2000 Games.

It describes the Language Service Program's areas of responsibility, which included conference and press interpretation; translation of official publications and support for visitors and competitors, entailing the recruitment of 1,500 volunteer linguists.
