The Regional Language Network London (RLN London) aims to promote language
and cultural skills for London's businesses and
communities. RLN London is funded by the London Development Agency to develop a language and cultural skills advice service for London - building
on previous support from the Learning and Skills Council and the Department for Education and Skills (now the Department for Children, Schools and Families). A primary objective
of this support is to raise awareness of the value of languages and
cultural skills in making a success of the 2012 Games. This will form a focus of much of our partnership
work, alongside support for and promotion of Community
Languages in the capital.
We also benefit from a close relationship with CILT, the National Centre for Languages, who established the Regional Language Networks, and Comenius London,
who offer support for teachers and learners
of Modern Foreign Languages across Greater
London. RLN London has also been involved,
with other partners, in a wide range of project activity for business improvement and organisational
effectiveness through better use of language and cultural skills.
We have built up strategic links with other key intermediary and provider
partners, such as London 2012, London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Business Link for London, Sector Skills Councils, professional associations, higher and further education and schools. A wide
range of partners also supported the development and launch of our strategy 'Why Try Harder?'.
If your organisation or business would like to get involved in RLN London activities, please contact us by phone on 0845 0066 262 or by e-mail on info@rln-london.com.
