English can present challenges for safety procedures, interaction with
colleagues, training, briefings and teamwork. The tools and advice
linked below provide assistance in tackling these challenges - click

Translated safety leaflets
The Health and Safety Executive ( HSE ) and TUC have published a safety leaflet (and many other publications) translated into different languages.
Health and Safety Executive’s interpreting service
The HSE 's Language Services Unit covers over 100 different languages. To use the service, non-native English speakers should contact the Infoline on 0845 345 0055, and tell the operator which language they wish to speak.

The Readability project by NIACE has produced a leaflet on creating clear written materials for different audiences. It has also created a simple calculator which can instantly check the readability of your text.

The Migrant Gateway website is for migrant workers and employers, trade unions and other agencies who work with them: it collects the legal information about rights as an employee or a worker, rights to housing, immigration status, healthcare, and more.

Refugee Council
The Refugee Council is the largest refugee organisation in the UK
providing advice and assistance to asylum
seekers and refugees in London and other parts of the UK. Its website provides information in a very wide range
of languages.
Know your rights
The TUC has produced a leaflet for people coming to work in the UK giving information about their legal rights to work in this country. The leaflet is available to download in a range of languages.
Advice in Polish
The TUC, together with Polish trade union Solidarnosc and the Citizens Advice Bureau, has set up a website with advice for Polish migrant workers in the UK.
